I'm not sure how I feel about Princess Madeleine's tiara game from last night while attending an official dinner at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. I fear it is weak. To start with, she's working with what is quite possibly the smallest tiara in existence. Then she has decided to run with the fact that it is technically a bandeau tiara by wearing it further forward than we're used to seeing. It all adds up to a bit of an odd look.
It also didn't help that her sister, Crown Princess Victoria, chose to pull out the Six Button Tiara that is quite the beast and as such Madeleine's pretty much pales into insignificance.
In all fairness, this is a tiara that probably has rather a lot of sentimental value for Madeleine as it was a gift for her 18th Birthday and her first ever tiara. And I imagine it's a lot more comfortable to wear compared to some of the larger tiara's she has access to and hey, she's already lugging around a growing baby inside of her so it's understandable that she didn't want to add any unnecessary weight on her head as well.
I certainly don't hate it but I definitely think it's the positioning in this instance that makes it seem particularly strange. It would however be the perfect addition to a Cleopatra costume. Multi-purpose ftw.
